Why This Cross Matters
Supreme Diesel is a deliberate F1 cross, not a lucky accident. Compound Genetics paired Sour Diesel with Jet Fuel Gelato to solve a specific problem: how to get the sativa head-high and fuel aroma of a classic diesel without sacrificing the resin production and bag appeal that modern growers expect. They got there. The result is a strain that leans sativa in effect but doesn't skimp on trichome coverage or visual appeal.
What Each Parent Brings
Sour Diesel contributes the architectural backbone and the nose. You get the upright, branchy structure, the rocket-shaped colas, and that unmistakable fuel-and-citrus aroma that made the strain a standard for two decades. The sativa high is there too: cerebral, energetic, clean. Jet Fuel Gelato brings the resin. It adds trichome density that Sour Diesel alone doesn't always deliver, plus the body relaxation and the color expression. You also get some of the gelato sweetness layered under the diesel, which is where the complexity lives.
The Phenotype Breakdown
Five distinct expressions emerged from this cross. One is a pure sativa structure: tall, airy internodes, rocket colas, minimal side branching. Two lean indica: shorter, bushier, with orange hairs and purple foliage under the right conditions. Two are true hybrids: one short and compact, one tall and stretchy, both showing color change in flower. All five share the diesel aroma. The top three phenotypes are exceptionally dank. If you run a pack of 13, you will likely see at least three of these expressions. Growers should plan to run multiple plants if they want to hunt for the keeper.
Finding the Keeper
Start with structure. The pure sativa pheno is easy to spot by week three of flower: it will be taller, with distinct spacing between nodes and colas that form in tight clusters. The indica-leaning plants will show bushier growth and faster flowering. Watch for resin production at week four. The keepers will be visibly frostier than the rest. Aroma is your second filter. Smell the plants at week six. The top phenotypes will have a sharp, clean diesel nose with no hay or grass undertones. By week eight, the keepers will show color: deep purples, reds, or orange hairs depending on the pheno. A long flush, cool nights, and proper nitrogen management will bring out these colors. Cut the plant that has all three: structure you like, exceptional resin, and that dank nose.
In the Garden
Supreme Diesel is straightforward to grow. Expect 70 days to flower. Some phenotypes stretch significantly in flower, so plan for training and topping in veg if you are working with limited height. The plant responds well to standard feeding schedules. No special requirements. The main variable is phenotype: the sativa-leaning plants will need more vertical space and longer to finish. The indica-leaning plants will be faster and more compact. Growers report it as easy overall, but the phenotype variation means you need to pay attention to what you are running.
The Experience
Supreme Diesel delivers a sativa-dominant high with a body component. The head effect is clear and energetic, typical of Sour Diesel genetics. The Jet Fuel Gelato parent adds a relaxing body buzz that prevents the strain from being one-dimensional. The combination works for daytime use without the jitters, or for evening use without the couch lock. The flavor is diesel with sweet undertones. The aroma is the main event: fuel, citrus, and a hint of floral sweetness depending on the phenotype.
About This Release
These seeds were acquired between 2012 and 2020 and stored in James Bean's personal vault as breeding stock. They were never offered publicly, never shelved as retail inventory, never part of a standard catalog rotation. They were set aside for genetic preservation and future breeding work. Upcoming changes to cannabis legislation will restrict what can be legally sold and shipped. This release is happening now because the window is closing. Once this stock is gone, there will be no restock, no new run, no second chance to acquire it. If you are a serious grower or breeder, this is the time to make the decision.
