The Cross
Buy Blueberry F5 seeds if you want DJ Short's take on refined stability. He crossed Blueberry F4 with itself. Goal was tighter genetics around berry taste, resin coverage, and euphoric stone. Five filial generations from late-1970s stock got him there. Phenotype variation dropped hard. No loose ends like in F1 or F2 packs.
Did he nail it. Yes. This is no hype job. Award pedigree from 2000 High Times Cup backs it. But results show in the plants, not trophies.
What Each Parent Brings
Both parents are Blueberry F4. One side passes dense trichome layer and purple-blue-red bud colors. Other locks in sweet blueberry aroma that holds through cure. Structure comes uniform: indica stretch with long branches that hold weight. Yield potential high if light and feed match. THC unknown, but effects resist tolerance build-up. Flower time 56 to 70 days across the board.
Mother Traits
F4 mother gives euphoric high that lasts. Buds stack tight, resin heavy. Flavor dominates with authentic berry, no off-gas.
Father Traits
F4 father mirrors it. Adds vigor for medium-tall height without floppy growth. Low hermie risk from selection work.
The Phenotypes
Low variation. Expect 80 percent keepers in a ten-pack run. Most hit indica-dominant hybrid mark: short nodes, fat colas, purple flush late flower. Ten percent stretch taller, yield more but dilute flavor a touch. Five percent bagseed throwbacks with weaker resin. Cut those day 20 veg. No intersex plants reported in this line.
Run ten seeds minimum to map it. Uniformity beats most modern polyhybrids.
Finding the Keeper
Day five germ: even taproots, no albinos. Veg week two: select for tight internodes, sturdy stems. Smell test week four: berry over hay wins. Flower week three: watch resin beads form early, purple starting on sugar leaves. Harvest scout: calyx-to-leaf ratio over 70 percent, pistils 60 percent milky. Keeper has zero foxtail, trichs 30 percent amber max.
Resin test: shake a bud over glass. Keeper coats it white. Aroma peaks at sweet with earth base, no chem bite. Growth pattern: branches thicken week six flower, no split tops.
In the Garden
Indica structure stretches moderate. Top early, train mains for even canopy. High yields need CO2 over 1000 ppm late flower. Resists mold if air moves. Optimal 70 to 80 degrees day, 60 night. Feed low nitrogen veg, bump phosphorus flower week three. Finishes 56 to 70 days. Medium-tall, so six-foot space per plant outdoors.
The Experience
Long euphoric high hits head first, then body couch without sedation crash. Tolerance builds slow. Flavor sweet blueberry on inhale, fruit linger on exhale. Solid for evening use.
