Freeborn Selections 12-Pack – Turkey Bag {REG} [12pk]

Cultivar Notes from Meangene :
n
n“The whole Ziploc was stained with the smell.”
n
nI got Meyer Lemsky from my buddy Jim, who’s an old schooler. Meyer Lemsky started with his old ‘Santa Marta’ that he used to grow through the seventies. And when the eighties came–sometime in the early eightys. He was smoking a joint with his buddy at the bar and he took a hit and it was the best tasting flower he had ever smoked. He couldn’t believe it. He was like, “What is this?” And the guy goes, “This is The Indica.”
n
nThe guy had a couple of seeds and the guy gave him the seeds, but Jim didn’t know anything with a name like that—back then strains had names like Santa Marta…Oaxacan…Thai…they all had names like that. This is back in the day, it was only ten, fifteen years earlier people were like, Males? There’s males? People were smoking the males and the females together and wondering why some plants sucked and some were good , like no shit, you know!
n
nSo Jim crossed what was called  The Indica, which I assume is an Afghani or a Pakistani. He took that and he crossed it with ‘Santa Marta’. And then a few years later, he got something that he called ‘The Red Stem’, which I really don’t know what it is, but I feel like it’s probably the ‘Burmese’ from back then, where this guy’s from, there was only a few families that grew and they were all really tight all in the same little neighborhood out here over the hill from me.
n
nSo it became a three way cross of  Santa Marta, which is kind of a legendary strain and The Indica, who knows what it is, most likely an early eighties import of some Afghani or Pakistani…and  The Red Stem, which I really don’t know what it is, but I feel like it’s probably the Burmese from back then.
n
nHe had originally called it Green Lantern with no relation to what Green Lantern is but he said that there was some gangster rapper and they had a strain they were calling  Green Lantern for a while and he didn’t want people to confuse it since that one was more well known.
n
nThen he changed it and he started calling it Lemon Skunk because that’s what it smelled like to him but I was like, “Well there’s another Lemon Skunk and some people don’t like it. So when you’re telling people you got Lemon Skunk, it’s going to be a turn off for people.
n
nAnd so, he was like, “Oh, okay. Well…you can call it whatever.” And I was like, it smells like Meyer Lemons to me. So I was going to call it Meyer Lemon.
n
nI got some of these seeds and I grew them out–I got them from his daughter, actually, in a little trade. They gave me, I don’t know, like 30 or 40 of those. And I grew some out and as soon as they started growing, they had  visible resin when they were just the first little, what I call like canoes or rabbit ears–the first set of true leaves that have one finger.
n
nI was like, “Wow, that’s pretty crazy.”
n
nThey kind of smelled like gummy worms. As they developed and it turned into a full plant in veg, it started to smell like a Meyer Lemon. For context, a Meyer Lemon is not a pure lemon. A Meyer Lemon is like a mandarin or a tangerine-lemon hybrid. And so it has extra sweetness to it when you smell it, or smell them and so I started calling it Meyer Lemsky, specifically the line that I made of it, where I took the most lemony ones and bred them together. I took some of those seeds and I gave them to Skunktek. So Skunktek grew them indoor and he crossed them with a bunch of things. None of them really got grown out, except for the GMO cross that he did grow out.
n
nSince the plant was kind of a rough old school, chunky indica, it made sense to cross it with something that produced more resin on the flower. And also to dump hash, the resin that it has is incredible, but there’s not as much of it on the flower as you would want. So the GMO is famously resinous and is really good for making hash and so, put together it made this really crazy cross.
n
nI grew that clone. And I took that to the Emerald Cup. And everybody who asked like, “Do you have anything citrusy?” I was like, I have Lime, you can smell these, but if you want to smell something that’s just ridiculous, check this out.”
n
nAnd I pulled out this nug and it had combined with the GMO really good where it made it so hashy, where it made that kind where…you peel open the bag and the flower’s all stuck to it and the whole bag was laminated in resin. The whole Ziploc was  stained with the smell. And it’s that kind of stuff where, when you smoke it, it’s just like stuck in your sinuses. It’s so flavorful.
n
nSo I put that on ‘The Animal’ (aka Animal Cookies) to reinforce that resin, because the Animal has really good resin and it will make hash it’s, just crazy. Also, I figured the way that the structure is on the flower would open up the the Animal a little bit because the Animal is great but if you try to wash it, it’s like it grows like compressed flower, it’s so hard and dense. So I put those together and then I’m figuring like, “Okay. I’m going to get these insane passionfruit terps.”
n
nOn the bag, I write ‘Animal Passion’ and I’m like, I’m not going to tell you what’s in it because I didn’t want it to leak out and have all the sudden people have, like, the Meyer Lemsky and stuff from Jim, you know.
n
nSo I’m waiting for the reviews–I get feedback from Private Breeds and part of the Animal and the GMO (the meaty part) has cut through and now all of a sudden it’s fucking turkey, lol..
n
nI’m like, That’s super disappointing since I wanted passionfruit terps.
n
nAnd Private Breeds is like, “No, no, no…it’s not disappointing! This shit is crazy! It sounds weird, but it’s so tasty. And it makes so much hash. And look at these plants.”  Then, Private Breeds started breeding it with other things and–all of a sudden–he started getting the passionfruit terps popping out and I was like, “Damn…okay. So it is pretty cool, but there were ones that popped out with the smell that I was looking for in The Lemsky. In the initial F1 he said there was one out of…I think he said maybe one out of a dozen. He can correct me in the Discord and tell everybody what the exact number is there because I can’t remember.
n
nSo there’s a lot of potential in it–especially for further breeding–to get back away from the meaty terps, maintaining the insane resin from the Chem D and the Forum and the Animal. And getting that kind of, you know, getting that kind of passionfruit terpene profile on it.
n
nTechnically, it’s a pure line. The lineage is a hybrid, but the genetic condition of it is a true breeding inbred line. You know, there’s variation in it, but it’s very limited. When you look at the plants, they look like dinosaurs. They don’t look like ‘Deep Chunk’, but they look extreme like that. Basically, it has a certain chunk of a really dominant old heirloom genetics and I would say it’s a three way hybrid (though it’s technically been a three way hybrid since the 80’s).
n
nAnd it’s funny, I had a buddy who hit me up who’s got a brand who really wanted a ‘Chicken and Waffles’ clone, and he’s like, “Can you breed a Chicken and Waffles clone? ” I was like, “There’s probably already one in here….I mean, this one smells like a steak pie. And this one smells like ketchup and steak. And this one smells like turkey. It’s just crazy!”
n
nSo it’s pretty neat. I really wanted the passion fruit but with the heavy resin so they’re in there and as soon as it gets bred different ways, it pops out. So I’m very interested in what it’s going to do moving forward. If I release any, I’ll probably just let a few of them go to people who are like really enthusiastic about it to check it out.

Turkey Bag Seeds – Grower’s Tips

Quick, clear tips for a smooth run. Keep it simple and consistent. This cultivar likes steady light, smart feeding, and clean airflow.

  • Lighting: Strong full-spectrum LED. 12/12 for flower; keep veg bright and steady.
  • Environment: Aim ~24–26°C day, ~20–22°C night; 55–65% RH in veg, taper to ~45–50% by late flower.
  • Feeding: Start light. Increase as the canopy asks. Watch leaf tips, not the bottle label.
  • Training: LST (low stress training) is safe; avoid heavy topping late in veg.
  • Timeline: Expect 8 to 10 weeks. Plan dry/cure space before chop.
  • Cleanliness: Prune lower fluff, keep fans dust-free, change pre-filters.

Turkey Bag Seeds – User Reviews

Got real-world results with Turkey Bag? Share your notes and photos. Grow logs help the next grower pick with confidence.

  • What to include: Tent size, light type, medium, nutrients, veg/flower time, dry/cure notes.
  • What you tasted: Terp profile in plain words—sweet, citrus, earthy, creamy, etc.
  • What you learned: Any small tweak that made a big difference.

Turkey Bag Seeds – Climate & Environment

Turkey Bag runs well in most setups. Control is king: steady temps, clean airflow, and proper humidity make the biggest difference.

  • Best fit: Hybrid plants like moderate temps and good air exchange.
  • Indoor vs Outdoor: Indoors: easier to lock dialed temps/RH year-round. Outdoors: choose a warm, dry window; avoid long wet spells late in flower.
  • Targets: Day ~24–26°C, Night ~20–22°C; RH ~60% veg → ~45–50% late flower.
  • Airflow: Canopy shake test—leaves should gently move. Stale air invites problems.

Turkey Bag Seeds – Yield Optimization Tips

Want more from your canopy without headaches? Focus on the basics done right and repeatable.

  • Start strong: Healthy seedlings, stable VPD, and clean water give you free momentum.
  • Canopy shape: Even tops catch even light. Train early; keep nodes level.
  • Nutrient rhythm: Feed to demand. If tips burn, back off. If color fades early, bump N or micros.
  • Light distance: Follow PPFD, not guesses. Watch leaves—praying is good, canoeing is not.
  • Finish well: Support heavy branches, keep airflow under the skirt, and dry slow for better bag appeal.
  • Realistic goal: high yields with quality-first density beat overfed, airy buds every time.
