Our History
Our company’s history is closely intertwined with California’s taxation laws related to cannabis. Before the legalization of recreational cannabis in California, growers were subjected to a double tax, with higher tax rates for those using light-deprivation techniques to cultivate their crops.
To avoid these taxes, our founders turned to autoflower genetics, which allowed us to harvest more efficiently and quickly than traditional photoperiod strains. As a result, we were able to increase our yield per square foot and avoid the higher tax brackets imposed on light-deprivation growers.
Although the legalization of recreational cannabis in California has since changed the legal landscape, our company’s history highlights the challenges that cannabis growers face in navigating a complex and ever-changing regulatory environment. Despite these challenges, we remain committed to innovation and sustainable practices, helping us to thrive in a competitive and growing industry.
