Why This Cross Works
Compound Genetics didn't throw two popular names together and call it a day. White Runtz and Apples & Bananas each bring something specific to the table, and the breeder understood what they were after: dense, resinous buds with creamy, gassy flavors backed by real potency and relaxing effects.
The genetics run deep. You're looking at Platinum Cookies and Grand Daddy Purple ancestry through White Runtz, Blue Power and Gelatti through Apples & Bananas. That's not accidental. It's a calculated blend of structure, terpene profile, and effect.
What White Runtz Contributes
White Runtz brings the density and the resin production. This is a strain that stacks tight, flowers predictably, and finishes with a heavy coat. The terp profile leans creamy and sweet, with enough gas underneath to keep it interesting. Structurally, you get compact internodes and strong branch architecture. Yield potential is there, but you're trading some stretch for structure.
What Apples & Bananas Brings
Apples & Bananas is the yield player and the flavor wildcard. It adds fruity complexity, extends the terpene range, and pushes the plant toward more vigorous growth. The banana notes are real, not imagined. This parent also contributes some of the hybrid vigor that keeps Compound Z from being a pure indica sitter.
Phenotype Variation
Compound Z shows indica-dominant traits across most phenotypes, but you will find some balanced hybrid expressions in a pack. The indica-leaning cuts run shorter, denser, and finish faster. The hybrid-leaning cuts stretch a bit more, show more branching, and can push toward 65 days. Both types produce resinous buds. The difference is structure and growth pattern.
Run a pack and you'll see variation in final height, branch count, and bud density. Some plants finish with tight, golf-ball-sized nugs stacked tight. Others produce slightly larger, more elongated buds with the same resin load. Neither is wrong. It depends on your space and what you're cutting for.
Finding the Keeper
Start looking at week two of flower. The keepers show strong calyx development early and maintain it through the stretch. By week four, you should see heavy resin production on the sugar leaves. The aroma at this stage tells you a lot: creamy, gassy, with fruity undertones means you're on the right plant. Avoid anything that smells thin or grassy at mid-flower.
At harvest, the keeper cuts show dense trichome coverage, a terp profile that reads creamy and complex, and buds that hold their structure when dried. The resin should be sticky but not wet. The cure should bring out the banana and apple notes without losing the gas.
In the Garden
Compound Z is not a beginner strain. The breeder notes challenging grow difficulty, and that's accurate. It responds to proper feeding, light intensity, and environmental control. Yields can reach 450 grams per square meter, but only if you dial in the fundamentals. Flower time runs 60 to 65 days. Plan for a full cycle and don't rush the cure.
The Experience
THC tests between 21 and 28 percent depending on phenotype and harvest timing. The effect is relaxing and potent, driven by terpenes like beta-caryophyllene and D-limonene. This is a night-time or weekend strain for most people. The flavor is creamy with fruity undertones and a gassy finish. No medical claims. That's what growers report.
About This Release
These seeds came from James Bean's personal vault. Acquired between 2012 and 2020. Stored correctly. Never shelved or sold publicly. They were set aside as breeding stock and genetic preservation, not retail inventory. Upcoming legislation changes what can legally be shipped and sold. This release is happening now because the window is closing. Once these seeds are gone, they are permanently gone. No restock. No new run. If you're serious about this cross, this is the only opportunity.
