Figure Four brings the structure. The goal was a hybrid that didn't lean hard one direction, that held resin production without sacrificing plant architecture, and that expressed enough terpene complexity to matter in the garden and the jar.
They got there. The cross stabilized into a balanced phenotype range that doesn't require running 20 packs to find something worth keeping.
What Each Parent Contributes
Chem D is the fuel. It carries the fuel-forward terpene profile, the resin density, and the genetic density that comes from a line that has been selected hard for decades. It pushes the THC expression and the minor cannabinoid ceiling. It also brings some of the structural demands that Chem lines are known for.
Figure Four is the ballast. It brings plant structure, branching architecture, and the ability to express those traits without requiring constant intervention. It moderates the vigor that pure Chem D can demand. It also contributes to the terpene diversity, adding layers that neither parent expresses alone.
The Phenotype Range
Beefcake D doesn't throw wild variation. That's by design. You will see plants that lean slightly indica-forward in structure, plants that express more sativa branch architecture, and plants that split the difference. The resin production is consistent across the range. The terpene expression varies enough to matter: some phenos run fuel-forward, others show more floral or spice notes, a few express both.
The 48-52 indica-sativa genetic ratio holds across fingerprinting. What changes is expression, not the underlying blueprint.
Finding the Keeper
In veg, look for plants that show strong internode spacing without stretching. Beefcake D plants that are going to perform well show defined branching early. Weak branching at week three usually stays weak.
At flower, the resin starts early. By week two of flower, you should see visible trichome development on the sugar leaves. Plants that don't show this by week three are not the keepers. The structure should remain manageable. If a plant is still stretching hard into week four of flower, it's not a Beefcake D expression worth running again.
Aroma development is a real signal. The smell should be present by week four of flower. If you're not smelling anything distinct by mid-flower, that plant is not expressing the genetic potential.
In The Garden
Beefcake D runs clean. Flower time is in the standard range for a balanced hybrid, no surprises. The plant responds to standard feeding without requiring exotic inputs. Resin production is high enough to matter, not so high that it demands perfect conditions. It's a strain that rewards attention without punishing normal mistakes.
The Experience
The effects track the genetics. A balanced hybrid that doesn't pull hard toward sedation or stimulation. The minor cannabinoid content, CBG and CBC in the 0.2 to 0.5 percent range, adds texture to the experience. The terpene profile carries the expression. Fuel-forward phenos hit direct. Floral-leaning phenos add complexity. Neither is wrong.
About This Release
These seeds were acquired between 2012 and 2020 as breeding stock and genetic preservation. They were never offered publicly.
